Guidelines for Labeling and Packaging

Packaging and Labeling Standards

Throughout transit, your parcel will be handled multiple times and might have other parcels stacked on top. It's crucial that your packaging is sturdy enough to withstand the demands of courier transport. Insufficient packaging heightens the risk of damage during transit and may also make you ineligible for compensation. Post n Packages can help you ensure your package is secure; please consider the following standards and visit our packaging guidelines page for more information.

Expert Tip

Make sure your package is prepared to endure multiple handlings and the weight of other parcels during transit. Use strong, durable packaging materials and properly secure your items inside the box. This will help protect your parcel from damage and keep you eligible for compensation in case of any issues. For expert advice on effective packaging, refer to Post n Packages' packaging guidelines page.

Packaging Requirements:

Packaging Guidelines:

  • Box Selection: Choose a new, sturdy box with intact flaps that can support the weight of your items. Refer to the Box Strength Guidelines for more details.
    • Weight Guidelines:
      • Over 10kg: Use a double-wall corrugated box.
      • Over 30kg: Opt for a triple-wall corrugated box.
      • Over 40kg: A solid wooden box or pallet is required.
    • Pallet Use: When booking, declare pallet dimensions. Some carriers, like UPS, do not accept pallets and may remove them. Specifying pallet dimensions ensures accurate quotes from couriers that accept palletized shipments. Failing to provide dimensions might impact your ability to claim damages.
  • Preparation:
    • Remove any old labels and markings from the box.
    • Secure the box with strong shipping tape, covering all seams at least three times in both directions.
    • Fill the box completely with adequate cushioning to eliminate any movement or gaps inside.
  • Special Items:
    • For large, delicate items like electronics or machinery, ensure the product is fully suspended inside the box using custom-molded foam inserts.
    • Ensure items do not touch the box walls; they should be surrounded by protective packaging.
  • Labeling:
    • Wrap all items separately.
    • Avoid using paper, plastic sheeting, or string on the outer packaging.
    • Attach a single address label with clear delivery and return information.
    • Place a duplicate address label inside the package.
  • Heavy Shipments: For packages over 70 kg, ensure they are palletized.
  • Loading Requirements: Make sure your goods are accessible for vehicle loading using a tail-lift. Note: Post n Packages does not provide removal or lifting services.

Packaging Essentials:

Ensure strong packaging, add sufficient cushioning inside the box, wrap your items securely, and seal the box thoroughly.

Labeling Guidelines

Print your shipping label or choose to email it to yourself or another recipient.

Shipping labels can be printed using any standard laser printer.

Post n Packages advises printing two copies of each shipping label. Give the extra label to the courier when they collect the parcel.

Securely attach a shipping label to each package using a 'Documents Enclosed' pouch.
